Little Intrigue
18” x 24” Oil
Children view the world through a lens of imagination and possibility. Is that just a tree, or a dragon waiting to take flight? Is that cat hunting for a mouse, or its missing yoyo? For many people, myself included, it can be easy to forget what a magical experience life can be. Having the privilege to witness moments such as the one depicted here allow me to remember and re-experience that whimsy once again. Since becoming a mother, I frequently make myself try to view things from the perspectives of my son and daughter, and find simple actions like peering through a fence can lead to any number of possibilities. As a child, miniscule moments in day to day life often result in awe. Seeing this amazement inspires me to slow down, take in my surroundings, and appreciate the world for the wonder it presents to me.
